HP Custom Fonts enable you to incorporate consistent signatures, logos and images onto your checks, forms and branded marketing materials. Use HP Custom Fonts in tandem with HP MICR Fonts to print checks.

SAP and other common large ERP environments, including most non-Windows operating system environments support HP Custom Font solutions.
Types of Custom Fonts
Bitmapped Signature or Logo
Bitmapped Signatures and Logos will print exactly the same size as the submitted artwork. These products use a PCL Escape Sequence to trigger the signature or logo and are typically used by non-Windows applications that require a printer installed font.
Scalable Signature or Logo
Scalable Signatures and Logos can print in a range of sizes – from a point size of 6 up to a point size of 72. Scalable products can be sized to user preference by sending a properly formatted PCL Escape Sequence to trigger the signature or logo. These solutions are only used by non-Windows applications that require a printer installed font.
MICR
MICR stands for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition. This is the E-13B character set that allows printing of the numbers and characters on the bottom of checks. MICR technology is used in the banking industry because it allows for very fast and reliable check processing. The MICR font is bitmapped and is triggered by an escape sequence only. Combine with custom signatures and logos for a check writing solution. MICR solutions are only used by non-Windows applications.
Soft Fonts
Signatures, Logos and MICR are available as Soft Fonts and delivered on a CD which is used to download the signature or logo images to the printer’s memory. The images are held in the memory until the printer is powered off. The next time the printer is powered on the images will have to be downloaded again.
For Windows environments, Signatures and Logos are created as True-Type fonts and easily added to Microsoft Windows. Once installed under Windows, the font is available as a standard font selection. Users will have the ability to access the font in applications such as Crystal Reports and Microsoft Office. MICR is not available for Windows applications.
Printer Support
Bitmapped, Scalable and MICR fonts (other than soft fonts) are provided on Host USB, compact flash or DIMM devices and are installed inside a printer. They are not supported by external USB connections. For printer support, see the Specifications Tab.
